LEAPS+BOUNDS: Arm Balances for Everyone!

Mondays 7:30-8:45 PM

October 17-December 19

Yoga Bywater, 900 Louisa Street

Session A: Koundinyasana (Koundinya Pose) September 12-October 10 (Registration for this session is FULL!)

Session B: Maksikanagasana (Dragonfly Pose) October 17-November 14

Session C: Titibhasana (Firefly Pose) November 21-December 19

What is LEAPS+BOUNDS?

In this series, we'll work on building the strength and stability to move into a variety of arm balances. In each five week session, you’ll work towards one particular arm balance in a step-by-step way, with the instruction of a skilled teacher (that’s me!) and surrounded by supportive peers (that’s y’all!).

In addition, you'll get a typed up sequence each week for you to practice with at home. Practicing outside of class is crucial for advancing your practice, but it can be intimidating to figure out what to practice. These customized sequences will help you to practice solo with confidence!

There are three five-week sessions. Sign up for one five-week session or do all three!

Who is LEAPS+BOUNDS for?

LEAPS+BOUNDS is geared for people with some prior yoga experience and is not well suited for very beginners or those with current injuries. But you don’t need to be able to actually do these poses to sign up for the course. If you can practice Chaturanga, you’re ready for LEAPS+BOUNDS! Please contact me with any questions.

When and where does LEAPS+BOUNDS meet?

Mondays from 7:30-8:45pm

Yoga Bywater, 900 Louisa Street

How much is it?

Each 5-week session is $80.

Sign up for two sessions (10 weeks) for $140.

*A note about the images on this page:

I feel strongly about creating yoga spaces that are inclusive, and I intentionally try to use images in my advertising that reflect a diversity of bodies (in terms of age, size, race, and gender). I also try to always use images that are legally usable for commercial pursuits such as this. During my search, I found very few images of yogis who weren't skinny bendy white women doing these poses (because white supremacy?) and of those I did find, none were approved for reuse (because capitalism?)

I feel stuck between wanting to respect the work of yogis and photographers by not stealing their images and simultaneously wanting to usurp the dominant narrative of who does yoga (and thus, who yoga is for). If you have ideas on how to work around this conundrum, I'd love to talk more with you about this!

Every body is a yoga body.
